Welcome to The Computer Museum of Kallio and the I love 8-bit -exhibition!

If you are a techie, an active player in the startup scene, or a passionate follower of gaming technology, this place is for you! Located in the heart of Kallio, our museum takes you on a journey through early digital worlds, where 8-bit graphics, the golden age of game consoles, and synthetic sounds flourished. I love 8-bit® exhibition is the perfect counterbalance to the hustle and bustle of Slush.

Here, you can step back in time and experience the era that laid the foundation for today's digital world. The exhibition features legendary 8-bit consoles such as Sega, Nintendo, Atari, and of course, the legendary Commodore 64! There are also unique items on display, each with its own exciting story. This is an opportunity to get closer to digital history and learn about the technology that has made us all love gaming culture and programming.

Although Slush is full of cutting-edge technological innovations, I love 8-bit® reminds us where it all began. The Kallio Computer Museum combines nostalgia, technical expertise, and innovative thinking—just like the core of Slush! Don't just get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the event! Come and enjoy and be inspired by the golden age of computer culture.

Bring your colleagues, customers, and Slush contacts to the museum and make an impression! Book a private event by ordering a group ticket (€25.50/person) + 14% VAT. The minimum order is ten tickets, and the private event lasts two hours. Payment can be made by card at the museum desk, online, or by invoice.

HOME OF THE COMPUTER CULTURE

There are museums, as well as computer museums. But then there is the special one. It is The Computer Museum of Kallio in Helsinki. The museum is build like little computer shops were in 1984! If you've been in a computer shop in the 1980s, you'll understand what's going on. If you haven't, you'll learn quickly! 

In the museum you will jump into the 1970s and 1980s environment, since the museum is specialisided the computer culture of that time. I love 8-bit® exhibition presents the change and progress. You can see for yourself how times have changed and what things have disappeared with the change.

In the museum's club room there are different kind of activities. As well as playing games, you can code basic on original hardware and enjoy the computer culture as it was. Save what you've written on a C-cassette and continue next time, either at home or at the museum. The outputs of demoscene groups provides authentic atmosphere at the museum. Once disappeared computer culture has come back to the future at The Computer Museum of Kallio!

The summer exhibition 2025 presents Commodore computers and the culture that are related to the Commodore era. 

The I love 8-bit® -exhibition is the computer culture event produced by The Computer Museum of Kallio. The exhibition is the computer show in motion that can be ordered to various locations on demand. The exhibition site is in the address www.ilove8bit.fi

Tickets

Public exhibitions are not held regularly at present. The museum can be booked for tourist groups upon request (minimum order of 12 tourist tickets). When a public exhibition is open, then tickets can be purchased in advance from the online ticket store.

Opening times

The Computer Museum of Kallio is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays. On weekdays the museum can be booked for private use. Depending on demand, the museum may also be open to the public on weekdays during the summer.
