How to organize school trip?

The school trip is a private event at The Computer Museum of Kallio. It is easy to organise, starting by email, by phone or by visiting the museum. The cost of a school trip in the museum can be easily calculated by multiplying the ticket price by the number of participants. 1-2 proctors can join free of charge same time. If for some reason someone cannot join the school trip, the unused ticket can be used for weekend's public exhibitions. It is possible to pay by using a credit card in the museum or by invoice advance.

Service description

The school trip to The Computer Museum of Kallio lasts two hours. During the event organized by the museum, a museum guide will talk about the time before the Internet and digitalization, how the world gradually became computerized, and what stages of development took place. During the class trip, you can try your hand at playing games and writing programs on original devices. The culture of the time is strongly present. The class trip to the museum clearly illustrates the trade-off that was made when the transition to digitalization took place.

Supervising

A teacher always accompanies the class trip to supervise the trip. A museum guide is on site during the event. Video surveillance is in place on site.

Delivery costs

Class trips can be booked with a group ticket. The maximum size of a single group is 30 people. The minimum order for class trip tickets is 20 tickets. The cost of a group ticket, excluding VAT, is €14 per person.

The Computer Museum of Kallio has a good and easy location. Linnanmäki amusement park is only about 500 metres from the south end. A day at the amusement park is enhanced by a visit to the Kallio Computer Museum.

The Computer Museum of Kallio is specializing in the computer culture of the 1970s and 1980s. The exhibition venue is build like the computer retail stores of the 1980s. The Computer Museum of Kallio offers museum visitors the illusion from the era when the first home computers were available for purchase by consumers. At that time, there were numerous different computer manufacturers and a wide range of models, each with its own technology, games and advertisements. In other words, the industry had not yet become as consolidated as it is today.

The Computer Museum of Kallio is the private and non-profit functional museum in Helsinki. The Computer Museum of Kallio was founded by computer hobbyists in Finland and the museum funding is based on the admission fees and hosting private events on demand.

The Computer Museum of Kallio is independent museun and does not receive public funding. The museum was open to the public for the first time on 14th December 2024.
