The golden 80s brought something to look forward to, perhaps something completely new – a computer to home! There were many devices and manufacturers, each with their own strengths. Commodore was famous for its games, MSX was an attempt to standardize computers, and the ever-reliable Finnish company Salora had brought computers alongside radios and televisions. So which of these or many others should you choose?
Computer stores and other shops selling them were fascinating places for those interested in the subject in the 1980s. They offered experiences that are no longer available in the 2020s: a vast array of different devices, game cartridges, and various stores selling home computers. And what about promotion? Nobody makes ads today like in the golden era of computing in 1980's!
The Computer Museum of Kallio wants to bring these experiences back to the future and preserve them. Thanks to the museum, everybody can enjoy the 2020s in the same way people enjoyed the 1980s. If this was fun in the 1980s, why couldn't it be fun in the 2020s as well? Surely a 1980s computer store beats any online store or computer store of today in terms of atmosphere!
The Computer Museum of Kallio offers a Christmas party that is an experiential party. There, you can visit a computer store that recreates the year 1984. What did the world look like in the pre-digital era from the perspective of consumers and enthusiasts of the time? You can find out it at the museum's Christmas party!
The computer store from 1984 will remain in Helsinki for a while longer! Don't wait too long, because this is a project that will only last for a limited time period.
Christmas parties are held at The Computer Museum of Kallio from five to six times a week upon request. You still have time to book yours!
Would you like to bring a larger group to the museum for a longer period of time? Then you should consider borrowing the museum for your own use. You can bring your staff, customers, or even other acquaintances, as admission to the museum is free during the rental period. The only visitor restriction is that the museum can accommodate 30 people at a time.
For large groups, the Museum's Christmas party costs €320 (VAT 0%) and includes two hours of fun at a computer store that recreates a 1984 computer store! Additional hours can be booked if needed (€120/VAT 0%). So, you won't break the bank with a Christmas party at the museum!
